Policy development

Æquilibrium Consulting provided advice to China's Ministry of Finance for the development of the People's Republic of China's new Sustainable Development Reserve Fund (SDRF) policy.

Æquilibrium Consulting elaborated a study on the use of economic and financial instruments to promote environmental policy and management in Tanzania, including an action plan for the Tanzanian Government to achieve further progress in this area.

Æquilibrium Consulting elaborated a new national policy on Resource Efficient and Cleaner [industrial] Production for the Albanian Government, based on the analysis of relevant sectoral policies, requirements of the EU accession process and specific expectations of stakeholders.

Æquilibrium Consulting assisted with elaborating the Ghana Environmental Fiscal Reform Road Map.

Provision of training

Æquilibrium Consulting provided several GIZ training seminars on environmental fiscal reform (EFR) for government specialists, researchers and academics, representatives of bilateral and multilateral development organizations and NGO representatives. These training seminars were provided to trainees coming from more than 20 countries.

Æquilibrium Consulting provided an "international resource expert" for two eco-finance workshops organized by the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) in Kuala Lumpur and Taipei.

Policy reviews 

Æquilibrium Consulting elaborated a review of Moldova's environment sector. This project also included the identification of a project pipeline of new environmental policy and investment projects for ADA.

With Æquilibrium Consulting filling the role of Development Economist, assistance was provided to prepare ADB's new Country Environmental Assessment on Kazakhstan.

Preparation of analytical and comparative studies, as well as information databases

Æquilibrium Consulting elaborated reports on experience with Green Public Procurement and Sustainable Industrial Production in Eastern European and Central Asian countries. These were published as part of a larger EEA/UNEP report on Sustainable Consumption and Production and presented at the "Environment for Europe" Conference of European Environmental Ministers in 2007.

Æquilibrium Consulting's Principals were involved in elaborating several reports on the use of economic and financial instruments in environmental policy, including: a Sourcebook on the Use of Economic Instruments in Environmental Policy in Central and Eastern Europe, a Survey on the Use of Economic Instruments in Environmental Policy in Mediterranean countries, a Survey the on the Use of Economic Instruments in Environmental Policy in Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia, and a Sourcebook on Environmental Funds in Eastern Europe.

Æquilibrium Consulting published and maintains the eco-finance.org website, an information resource service with worldwide coverage on environmental finance, including biodiversity finance, water finance, carbon finance and eco-technology finance, etc.

Æquilibrium Consulting's Principal was co-editor and contributing author of the Wiley book entitled "The Environmental Challenge for Central European Economies in Transition", which includes contributions from prominent experts such as Prof. Maciej Nowicki (Minister of Environment of Poland in 1990-91 and again 2007-2010 and President of Poland's EcoFund in 1991-2007), Dr. Kristalina Georgieva (senior official at the World Bank until 2010, since 2010 European Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response) and Prof. Bedrich Moldan (former Minister of Environment of the Czech Republic and former Chairman of UNCSD).
